Brittany Edwards, MSN, APRN, CPNP-AC/PC, IBCLC

Welcome, I look forward to hearing from you, but first a little about me: I am the owner of The Mama Coach – Brittany Edwards, a practice dedicated to Making Parenthood Easier. I am a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Acute and Primary Care and have been working in the medical field for over 15 years, working first as a nurse prior to my transition to NP in 2017.

I also hold a degree in Health Promotion and Behavior from the University of Georgia and am a Veteran, having served as an Aeromedical Evacuation Flight Nurse in the USAFR for a decade. I have worked at the bedside in a number of diverse specialties, to include as PNP in a busy newborn nursery. I am aligned with the American Heart Association (AHA) as a CPR Instructor and Training Faculty and am a member of the American Pediatric Association & Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Association.

I recently completed my coursework to become a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) and as far as the future is concerned, I am excited to be completing my mentoring to become an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and would like to eventually get involved with legislation efforts to improve maternal and child health in our state and nation.

On a community level, my next “longer term” goal is to educate myself on ways to apply for grants and funding (or dream up other creative means) to provide some of the same services in the underserved and underprivileged communities. However, I tout my biggest and most humbling “job” is that of proud mama to a little girl, as well as a nurturing wife, friend & family member.

I reside on the westside of Atlanta, Georgia and serve clients in the greater Atlanta area both in-home and virtually, as well as virtually nationwide. In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling, scuba diving, skiing, getting a massage and will never turn down a good iced coffee.

Wondering what makes my business and services unique? I am able to provide a variety of classes and coaching, tailored and specific to your baby and circumstances, and with my medical experience, nothing I do is “cookie cutter”. I am trained to use my nursing assessment skills to evaluate each child individually, resulting in comprehensive and personalized plans.

I work under the motto that more prepared = less worry, and I love to take my training and anticipatory guidance to the next level to empower families, resulting in my clients feeling more confident not just in their knowledge, but in trusting their intuition as well. My job is to listen to your priorities and specific goals as a parent, walking beside you and sharing in your challenges, as well as triumphs. I make a promise to support you with empathy, compassion, respect and without judgement.

While I have a vast amount of knowledge and experience to help growing families, I am not too proud to admit when I may need to research further to answer a question, nor will I hesitate to refer to a specialist or other professional when your needs are outside the scope of my practice or expertise, or when someone else may be better suited for a particular challenge. That is just one reason I am excited to be growing and collaborating with my network of trusted professionals within the local birthing network.

My passion for helping others, mixed with my personal experiences of pregnancy and postpartum, fuels my goal of simplifying and helping new families not just simply survive, but to thrive!

Frequently Asked Questions

I am independently owned and operated (my own LLC), however, I take pride in that I am a partner in a team of professionals who work together to collaborate, grow professionally and continue our education to stay up-to-date on current guidelines and medical practices.  The Mama Coach is a team of Registered Nurses and Certified Nurse Practitioners across the globe committed to making parenthood easier. The Mama Coach founder and CEO, Carrie Bruno, is a proud Registered Nurse (RN) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Good question!  We are called The Mama Coach because years ago, when Carrie’s (our founder) first boy was very small, she often wondered out loud to herself, “Where is my Mama Coach?” and “I need a Mama Coach!”.  Carrie searched and searched for qualified support and realized there was a need for qualified support for new families. We recognize that our name can give the impression that we only serve moms, but we will continue to work and learn to ensure our messaging is clear that all people are welcome here. Parents carry a heavy load, and do it with grace.  All parents deserve support, and The Mama Coach is the answer you’ve been searching for.

We do not just support moms — we help ALL people.  All are welcome here, and we are committed to providing you with quality support, no matter your gender or family dynamic.  As we learned in nursing school, your family is who YOU say they are.

Yes.  As Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, we have years of training on where to access credible guidelines and information.  All of the programming is based on extensive research from credible sources.

As Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, it is our professional obligation to manage client records and confidential information properly.  I use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that is compliant throughout North America.  Even though we share the same brand, we are all independent Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners with our own private practices. As such, we each have our own EMR that is private and secure. We do not share EMR or client information between one another without consent.

Often they are — the answer largely depends on where you live and what your private insurance covers.  In the United States my services can be covered as well, through HSA or FSAs.  Lactation services are often covered and as I get closer to becoming an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Counselor) this will be integrated through my booking and payment services through The Lactation Network.  I look forward to expanding this lactation coverage, and other services, in the near future.  Reach out to me for more information.

Yes! I LOVE working with and learning from other like-minded individuals in my community. I would love to hear from you and brainstorm how we can better serve our families;. I believe in collaboration and not competition. I also am continually trying to expand my network of specialities to use when referrals would be beneficial for my clients and/or families. Reach out today and let’s team up!
